Yo! Sushi
Went out with Mairead today to Yo! Sushi on Buchanan Street. It was a lovely meal – I had never been in a sushi restaurant before. We shared a lot of dishes including: spicy squid, sushi rolls, and a chicken salad. The salmon on spicy rice was amazing. Having small dishes scoot past you on a conveyor belt is so tempting. I ate so much I had to put off dinner until 10pm!
And for your viewing pleasure, a quick video:
Khublai Khan’s
Last night I went to Khublai Khan’s (Yelp) at 26 Candleriggs – celebrating Mairead’s brother’s 18th birthday.
The restaurant is a Mongolian-themed buffet with a variety of meats. You get a small metal bowl, select a choice of noodles, rice, add your veg, add your meat and then build a sauce. There are a variety of sauce menus posted on the wall – although you can make your own. You then hand your creation over to a chef who cooks it up on a hotplate in front of you.
I followed the basic recipe for the sauces, doubling the amount of garlic wherever I could. I tried Wild Boar, Zebra, Kangaroo and Ostrich. The baby octopus was slightly too much for me to handle. Some of the sauces were super hot.
It was fun to have a go at making up your own combination of food – different to the normal restaurant experience! Worth another visit.
